Making a kissing forrest
Nothing spectacular, but fun none the less.
I didn't really have much to do in the shed today, but had an itch to do something. I glued up some Blackwood with a Huon Pine strip late last year with the intention of making some Christmas tree ornaments, but never got around to it, so figured I'd just start turning and see what eventuated.
I sanded up to 2000 grit, then finished with U-Beaut's friction wax. The Blackwood positively glows!
Now for a question. If I wanted to make something similar, but with it hanging from the tip (like a tree ornament), how would I hold it to finish of the base?

To finish the base on items like this ,I mount a sanding cone with a velcro surface in a jacobs chuck on the headstock .Fit your various grades of sanding material to this and offer up the the base of your turning to it .
