screw chuck
Can anyone help me locate one of these chucks OR have one they no longer use.
A friend has one and uses it a LOT. I cannot seem to find one anywhere and am starting to think they are no longer made.
Hope someone can help.
Merry Christmas

They were offered by Woodfast when it was Australian owned - "Screw Spigot Chuck" see clip from 2005 Catalogue.

Much depends on your lathe headstock thread dia, bu this will get you going

If you have a Nova chuck, theres a "woodworm screw" that a std 50mm set of jaws will clamp onto.
Not quite the same thing, I know, but it's used in the same way otherwise.
FWIW, I also have and use the SCT mentioned in Hughies post above. They're good... IF you can find one with the correct thread for your lathe.

Screw, spigot chuck
Hi debrosa,
I am all ears. Could you share you thoughts re making one of these chucks.
I have an old cup chuck and face plate that I could modify ?
I have looked for large course taps and also thought of using a large bolt and modifying that neither seemed ideal.
What were you thinking

Quite a few wood turners make their own wooden face plates that are threaded to suit the lathes spindle thread i.e. 1" x 10 or M30 x 3 etc. Same could be done for a bowl blank. Not sure that I would bother though as I have a nice range of Vermec face plates that take the standard Vicmarc chuck style inserts.
Look up "wooden face plates" on the WWF - Powderpost uses them regularly. Found PP's thread (no pun intended) for you
