after such a great day (albeit without ripple cake), I now find that I again have to email Jim for yet more supplies (Tormek stuff) . These "get-togethers' always seem to involve subsequent expenditure of "necessities". This event has highlighted the absolute requirement of additional jigs, black wheel, additional bar etc. .

Got home & resharpened my detail gouge to a flatter shape at the sharp end (a new technical term I learned today). Now it turns beads & coves with ease.

Five weeks from initial post to a turnup like we had today, what a fantastic effort. Too bad those Sydneysiders can't get organised .

In the interest of interstate friendship the moderators may find it necessary to delete this post.

What a great day it was. Despite the cold another great turnout. Learned a lot and had great fellowship, renewed old acquaintance and made new friends.

Thanks go to , Ken and Jim for a great day and some one-on-one tuition, both turning wise and sharpening wise.

Ken transformed the weirdest looking grind (produced by yours truly) on a spindle gouge ever produced, to an extremely professional looking grind. Thanks Ken.

Had a great day, learned a lot, met lots of new people (great to put faces to so many forumites)

Had some trouble convincing myself to drive 2 1/2 - 3 hours to this event, but it was more than worth it.

Thanks to , Ken and Jim for a great day. I always learn something at these get-togethers and 's hospitality and preparation were terrific.
Great to chat with Ken and particularly enjoyable was and Ken contradicting each other on tool usage, grinds and just about everything else .

You don't need a Tormek to hone a skew. Just a couple of bench stones, say 1000 and 6000. Easy to do by hand when you've created a hollow grind on a dry grinder.

Also looks like the shed has been re-arranged again specifically for the demos with the multiple lathes - worked a treat by the looks. Others may not realize how much effort and others put into these events, my hat goes off to them

As a first time attendee, I to would like to add my thanks to , Ken and Jim for a top day. From 's Robust roughing down to Ken finial finess, and to all who were there thank you for a very enjoyable day.

Another great day was had by all, it was good to see so many entusiastic people trying things they were not familiar with.

Always good to have a chat with every one in a more relaxed atmosphere.

For us it is not about work but trying to help, a social day

From the replies all had an enjoable day.

The and Ken banter kept all amused. It is amazing that 2 guys who are so different in their woodturning still do all the basics the same way, this proves it is not the size of the tools you use but the way you use them is the same.
Ken even got out his dusty normal sized tools for the tormek demo.

Ern unfortunatly you missed the tormek sharpening on the 4000g wheel this is the ants pants for getting a great edge on any tool. So quick and easy
