    Default I started turning

Last year a friend and client gifted me a little Jet lathe and oh my god, I started down the dark path. After turning a few little plates and mallets I started making bowls for Christmas gifts and other presents. I managed to source a bunch of jacaranda and that is the white wood bowls. The dark timber was some kind of acacia I think. It was heavily cracked so I decided to try something similar to Japanese Kintsugi on it. I made brass filings and filled the cracks with it and CA glue. Not as bright as gold but it was OK. I also messed up the bottom of this bowl by turning through the bottom. I learnt my lesson. The little urn-like bowl with the knot is Swamp Cypress, the American one Taxodium distichum, which is common around here. Gifts to neighbours is a good way to keep them on side when I make a bit of noise. Thanks for looking

Thanks John, but turning is like golf for me, I swing a lot and have one shot in 18 holes that a professional would be happy with, the rest are rubbish. I shoot a lot of bowls
