Looks like Blackwood, it grows all the way up the east coast, heaps around here on the Gold Coast

Agree that it is Blackwood which, as others have said, grows almost anywhere.
Scientifically known as acacia melanoxalyn.

Always impressed how people get logs without any splits in the ends. I tend to get cracks even when sealed.

Have to cut them quickly Cava, they will start to check shortly after cutting down especially in the summer. I got mine a couple of weeks ago have not sealed them yet and they are checking. I have not had the time to seal them or mill them yet, hope to get to them this weekend. Will cut the checking out prior to sealing them them mill them and coat the first inch or two one each board once milled.

I just have cheap PVA glue on the ends of mine, seems to have worked so far!
