Long stemmed Banksia nut goblets
I have made this type of goblets for some time now and have almost perfected the technique. The tallest goblet is 460 mm high whereas the smaller one is 360 mm high. The stems are turned from Jarrah timber and other parts are turned from recycled red gum fence posts.

Ripper job, I love them.... very delicate, I'd hate to think of how many stems you have gone through perfecting the.
What are they finished with?"All the gear and no idea"

I have not been attracted to turning myself, but I can appreciate good woodwork when I see it, and these are superb! I'm guessing many stems break before they get that thin, and that's what you mean by "almost perfected"

Very nice work Joe.
Bring them to the club on Wednesday and we can practise
ten pin bowling with them.

Joe - they look fantastic.
A question if I may.....do you turn the banksia nuts green, dry, or resin infused ?
Thanks
John

Hello John,
I buy my Banksia nuts from Pop's shed here in Melbourne and turn them as they are. I have worked out the process to turn those nuts myself and have lost only one so far. There are some 12-15 different processes to do one goblet.
Regards,
Joe v K.
