Stuck in Barcaldine.
As some of you know i left the Melbourne show and headed towards Mareeba to visit Powderpost before heading south to Proserpine.
I should be getting close by now but a fractured injector line on the beast has stopped me in Barcaldine for 3 days.
It has been 1 day and am bored stupid so if any forumites live round this area and want to play, give me a call on 0428 983 614.

Is this "Beast" the same one you changed the injector lines on the other week end that made you remember why you took up wood turning?
AH Barcaldine! Its along way from Prosapine. Is Queensland giving you a dose of sunshine you would not have?
If its not hot its flamin cold.
Hope you are back on the road soon. (Drive safely)Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

I bet it's the same injector line that took the skin off his knuckles too.

Its not until you get away from the big smoke that you realise just how BIG Australia is.
When I was working we had an over night service with Laminex. There is a branch in Tamworth, that has a pretty good stock but inevitably you would ask for something that was not in stock and so they would "Get it up overnight"
Customers away from Tamworth would experience "over night service" that would take 2 days. Thats just how it worked. Now you are in Barcaldine, its a reasonably big centre, but Overnight to them is probably where your 3 day stay is coming from.
Laminex had a meeting of all branch managers from all over Australia. They asked the Darwin manager to give a talk on his experiences with the company from his angle. His "Over night Service" took a week!!! Its not until you drive to Darwin that you realise just how far away it is. They are closer to Indonesia than they are to Sydney or Melbourne
The beer will be cold.
Enjoy your stayJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Barcaldine = Middle of Nowhere!
Although the Queensland Tourist site has Barcaldine as a centre for
Activities- Birdwatching . . . Wrong type of Birds
- Camping . . . That's what the Beast is for
- Fishing . . . Lagoon Creek is close to town, please don't use the concussion method to fish, it upsets the locals
- Golfing . . . Mark Twain had it right, Golf is a good walk, spoiled.
- Off Road Driving . . . Gotta have a vehicle that's not sick.
- Shopping . . . maybe pick up a new round neck t shirt and spend the nights adjusting them with scissors, not a skew.
Have a rest and drink plenty of warm coke and tea.Pat
Work is a necessary evil to be avoided. Mark Twain

The last time I was barcaldine was 17 years ago, I can remember leaving tyre marks in the tarmack it was that hot the bikes tyres stuck to the road. Stayed the night in the local. Carn't remeber much after fifth round. Don't worry to much its only a short drive to emerald and the on to mackay. Just lay back and enjoy the drive.

Ahh, Barcaldine, A lovely place I have to say. As for forumites, I can only say that I am probably the closest, an hour or so away. It's a pity it's during the week, otherwise I would pay a visit.

To answer all your questions.
Yes, it is warm.
Yes it is the one that dented the knuckles.
The problem is that the part is in, wait for it, Melbourne and they do not air freight. Brisbane to Barcy- air freight.
I could have broken down in a worse place I suppose.
There is more to this story: One of the original rusted through on the way back from Sydney show. Not one to do things by halves I replaced them all.
3 I could buy as original equipment and was told that there were no others available in the world. "they don't make em for that older vehicle any more. You were lucky to get those." Yeah right.
So I had 3 made and they are the ones giving trouble. One on the way back from Canberra show. The same one now.
Andrew (mechanic in Barcy) gets on phone. 2 hours later his supplier rings back and says "how many you want?" but the catch is they are in Melbourne. Bummer.
FF, a nice drive for me.

I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it
