    Default Treating with PEG.....

    I am enquiring for a friend who does a lot of turning and he would like to know the actual process in treating the green turned bowl blanks with peg and will it speed up the drying time..........all information would be greatfully received.....

    Peg has several uses in the treatment of timber, especially water logged timber, see this article of the raising of the Vasa

    But it can leave an oily residue that is not very friendly to a lot of conventional finishes,

    Consider using Meths [DNA in the US of A] or liquid dishwashing soap. Its far cheaper than PEG and you will find a lot of info on this forum on the use of meths or soap.

    Thanks Hughie, some good reads there, coupled with some i would like to try thats, some what a ripper. That Norfolk Island Pine "leaded glass" looks beautiful on Ron Kent's site.
