    Default WHAT IS THE VIEW FROM YOUR LATHE

    I have been thinking of putting up this thread for a while.
    Over the last 35 plus years my lathe has been in use, it has been set up in different places in my shed but by far when it was set against a window it always gave a nice feel to be working with sunlight and a view

    The first photo I may take another tonight which will get rid of the daylight flare. The view is not bad at the moment because we have had rain to green things up. There is a creek down in the depression of the foreground. Its not running but should we get more rain it should start to run again.

    Because its a bush block the spiders and there webs are a continual pain to keep them away.

    G'day Rod. Great view you have mate. Sadly mines nothing like that and comes nowhere near it. I look at a tin wall and out into part of my gravel driveway and thats about it. I'm a little envious of what you have there mate.

    Dave Ipswich is a nice part of the world. Take a pic and let us see. I do know that placement of some machines is dictated by other factors. As I said above, I have had mine set away from the window twice but ended up moving it to where it is now only about 18 months ago. I have also found out that walls are handy for hanging things up but I have run out of walls and so have things that need to be hung up.
    Just do it!

    I just happened to have the lathe out today on one of its rare appearances when I saw this thread go by on the activity stream, so I took a picture.

    You can see some of my timber collection waiting to be dealt with and the herb garden along the back fence. Over the back fence it is parkland for about 4-500 metres with a watercourse through the middle so I have no back fence neighbors to worry about. Nice and peaceful.

    I have no view from my lathes. No windows at all just a roller door. I do have a semi portable lathe for demos but they are inside.

    I have no outside view either as my workshop does not have any windows. This is because it's built underneath my house but that has the advantage of being cool in summer and warm in winter.

    So no view but comfortable conditions.
