The winning bowl
This is the bowl that won equal best in show in Melbourne. Took 7 weeks to design and build. It is 350mm diameter and stands 160mm high. The timber is black bean and silver ash with ash and walnut veneers fir definition. The handle for the lid was a concern, I didn't want a knob or finial. I think that that would have looked odd. The solution came from the handles on the filing cabinet. I was fairly happy with the outcome.
The first photo show the pattern in the bottom, visible after the lid is removed.

Love the way the design makes the outer surface look as though it has more dimensions than it really does - - - - well I know what I mean anyway
Top job Jim!
