Greetings,

I have a few questions about ironbark timber if there's anyone out there that is quite familiar with working with it.

I ordered ironbark timber for my back deck (joists & bearers only) which arrived during the week. I live in QLD so I'm presuming it was sourced from this state and presume it's "red ironbark". However, when it arrived it didn't look much like what I expected. The colour of the timber was a lot lighter than I was expecting, and now I'm worried that;

(a) I haven't been supplied with the timber I ordered (F14 ironbark)
(b) It's mainly sapwood

It was raining when the timber arrived on the Friday, and it looked a lovely red colour. But now that it's dried it looks a lot lighter than I expected (light brown/red to yellow). I guess my biggest concern is that I've been given left overs containing mainly sapwood, but does anyone know how thick the sapwood is on a red ironbark tree and is this something I should be worried about (eg. is it possible to get mainly sapwood in F14 ironbark)? There's no noticeable change in colour of the timber (eg. it's not yellow for a couple of cm's and then a different colour for the rest).

Thanks
