My new shed will be finished next week. I'll spend a lot of time in the shed, and allthough you might think I'm crazy, I'll try to keep it dustfree in between jobs. Apart from woodwork, we'll also make stained glass, and occasionally painting, and you just don't want to work in a dusty environment while doing some of the jobs.

I want to seal or paint the concrete on the floor. The shed has cost me a lot of money already, I'll try to save money where ever I can. The floor is 108m2, so every dollar spend on a m2, is another $108 ...

Does anyone have a tip how to seal or paint the concrete floor, it doesn't have to look flash, it just has to make the floor concrete-dust free. And it has to last ofcourse ...

If you also have tips where to get the stuff you recommend, I'm not very familiar with all the shops in Aussie yet, as I have only lived downunder for a year now...

Water blast it first then apply your paving paint. I always use stuff by NUTECH paints 03 9775 1491. Ring them and they will let you know what you need. some of their paving paints are guarenteed for 10 years. If your floor is very smooth you may have to add anti slip stuff to the paint.

I used paving paint from Bunnings, if the floor is slippery add a little bit of fine sand to the paint to make it non slip.

Gday wooded, for just a basic & cheap sealer you could get the job done with Bondcrete.

First coat 1:6 (Bondcrete:water), second coat 1:4. Prep floor first per the instr.

Check out the other brands also for the same PVA type sealing/bonding agent, Digger make one called Gripcrete & some other manufacturers have theirs. They may be cheaper.

NB. Don't use if you intend to use an oil based paving paint later on, ie. Berger Jet Dry or similar as they're not compatible.

My timber deck attaches to a concrete landing, I have painted the concrete landing the same colour as the deck using wattyl decking paint (thicker membrane so it doesnt wear from foot traffic apparantly).
Worked fine.
