Thread: Cheap place to buy plants in Melbourne

Mirz I see you are in Roxburgh Park, take a drive up to Sertel's Nursery up in Bridge Inn Rd Doreen, very popular for the whole area for buying plants.

They are a wholesale nursery, open 365 days a year and have a huge range of plants including the ones you mentioned. Best part is that the prices are literally 3/4 the price of other nurseries.

The stock can sometimes look a little weathered or overgrown, but won't make any difference to growth. I actually find that their plants establish quicker as the big name nursery ones have been babied too much and wilt at the slightest hint of a warm wind.

Have a look at the local markets .... we have one down the road that runs every Saturday .... flax and the like are at least half of the nursery. Most of the sellers seem to have some connection to a nursery as the stock is very good quality and remains consistent throughout the year. I have also found if you request something that they can get their hands on they will bring it along the next week.

i think we have some weekend market on Cooper Street somewhere, i just did not have chance to go there yet, but i will try to see there too.
