Probably a bit hard to tell, as the sandy loam will sink more when wet, so will the sand.

Better to expose the pipe again, backfill with crushed rock roadbase under the paving area in question, compact, then lay 30mm of sand allowing for 5mm settling before using a rubber mallet to tamp the pavers down.

Otherwise, you'll probably find that it will be either too high, you'll see a depression where the pipe is or you'll have weeds popping up form below

I had to dig a trench for new storm water a while ago, trench was about 300mm wide, about 800mm deep, after the pipe was laid and the trench back filled, the GLW mounded the clay / soil about 200mm higher than the ground level, a few months later there was a depression (no, the pipe did not crush!!!)
