Hi,

I want to install a couple of windows in very particular locations, based on the internal arrangement of my kitchen. This means cutting through/removing brickwork on the outside (brick veneer).

When I line the desired location up to the external brick joins, the location of the of the vertical cuts will be at irregular places on the bricks (i.e. not halfway through every second brick). I will try to upload a sketch of what I mean.

I am at a loss to work out what to do with the cut ends of the bricks - some will be very thin pieces that will be left after making the cut. Is there any kind of flashing/capping or other popular technique that will make the opening appear more tidy than cut brick-ends? All the pictures of windows that I see have them framed by alternate whole/half bricks on their side.

Any advice would be appreciated.Cheers.
