Too large a gap for door latch?
My first door, external door to garage, planed one side and then routed rebates for the hinges but didn't properly consider that all material removed from the door would only increase the gap on the latch side as the hinge side is butted up against the jamb ... so the gap is twice as large as I expected.
Do you think the gap is acceptable or may compromise security ... and what (if anything) could be done to remedy, including welding steel strip to steel jamb?
6.5mm of the latch is engaged inside the striker plate.
