Restore painted solid doors
I wonder if there are any new ideas and tips on internal doors?
Period Californian Bungalow - whilst we aren't going all out period resto, this section of the house is not being modernised as such so it needs to remain classically styled (if that makes sense).
The options at the moment appear to be ...
- Replace with cheaper hollow core doors - quick and easy but seems cheap??
- Replace with solid timber internal doors - costs would add up but it's an option
- Restore the existing doors, which I guess are going on 100 years of use - from experience, it's tough getting a good finish on old four panel doors, the flat bits are straightforward but the detail is always very difficult to clean out to a appealing level.
So any thoughts on the options and any tips on restoring existing doors?
