    Default 3 Boxes

After nearly 6 weeks in the making , on and off , finally finished these 15 boxes.
    Sizes are about 225mm,x, 130mm x 60mm.
Finished inside with flocking , outside with NC lacquer.
Really loving these small quadrant hinges.
First box Silh Oak with American Walnut veneer.
Second in Myrtle and Madrone Burl
Third in Maple and Quilted Maple

They are really nice. Well done. Where did you get the quadrant hinges from?

    Beautiful boxes, well executed.
Any chance of buying a template to use for mounting the hinges?

    Regards

Nice work on the boxes Bruce. That burl looks fantastic.

I'll have to drop by your website and check out those hinges.

    Cheers

With the use of a template and small router/ trimmer the quadrant hinges are easy to use .
    • Just clamp the template on .
    • Use a template following guide bush on the trimmer, I use one with an outside diameter of about 10mm.
    • Set the working depth to just less than half the depth of hinge knuckle .
    • Rout away .
    • Use a drill press and drill out a mortise for hinge stay,
    • Pre drill screw holes and screw in place.
    Thats about it.

You may need to use a bit of tape around the guide bush to adjust the fit if it's too sloppy.
I could make some templates but you would need to have a 10mm guide bush and 1/8th router bit to use it .
    Hope that helps Bruce

    Stunning box's all.
I like the walnut. Difficult to get here.
Will we see the remainder of the 15? I for one, would look forward to it..
How is the contrast line on the outside of the box achieved? Routed? after the carcass is assembled? What have you used to infill them with colour?

All good. Thanks for sponsoring this forum. Makes my day.
