Hi guys
im currently making a keepsake box for my mrs 21st and i am using Kwila for the sides but I cant get Kwila in the right width for the top or base in my area. I was wondering what second timber you guys would reccomend for the top and bottom?
she likes darker or red timbers.

Redgum, Jarrah, Western Red Cedar. the Cedar will be lighter both in colour and weight than redgum or Jarrah. Redgum can split a fair bit as it dries out, and even after being a fence post for 100 years. What size are you after?

My vote is with Jarrah, if it's dark and red you want.
(Also sounds almost like your name, Jared.)... Steve
