Default Blackwood + Huon Box (Warning - Images)

I have just handed over this box to its new owner and I thought it may be a good time to share. It is the first box (excluding bandsaw) that I have tried (and first go with the Incra system) so there were many changes (mistakes) along the way.

The brief was for a box to hold some chopsticks ..... then some chopsticks with chopstick holders ..... then some chopsticks with chopstick holders and dishes ..... then some chopsticks with chopstick holders, dishes and place-mats.

The box is destined to go to Japan for a wedding present next week. The design of the box exterior was intentionally simple with more detail work inside.

    Timber: Blackwood and Huon.
Box joints on Incra LS17 system.
Finish Rustin's Danish oil, EEE & Ubeaut traditional wax.

Thanks must go to Nine Fingers for fixing the hinge problem that I had .

    Cheers.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Oh My!! Beautiful work Sir S !!

I like the little pieces of timber as supports for the insert - very neatly done (as well as the rest) I also think your semi-gloss sheen is much more suited to this box than a hugely glossy shine!

    cheers

    Nice one Mick.

You've probably been asked and provided the info many times, but where did you source the little name plates? They're great! Also the kangaroos, mate. Where from?

    Many thanks. Wayne
