Hi Rick,
A fine start to the sometimes frustrating (how hard can it be it's only a little box) journey of box making well done, have you started a second one yet.

Hey there Rick, very nice box. Jarrah is one tough piece of timber, very hard. You'll become addicted to this box making in no time at all.

Thanks for the compliments guys, this was created as a wedding gift.
The biggest problem I have is finding a reason to create things. I can't just make something without having a use for it.
It may be a while till the next box but there definitely will be one or many.

Warrick,
Don’t let family or friends see this or you’ll have a queue around the block wanting one. Welcome to the endless search for the perfect box. A great start!

Well done Warrick,
The splined corners are very neat indeed. The wall thickness looks just right too
The hinges are quite well set in .... not quite sure that two stays are needed .... one is usually sufficient .... two are quite difficult to coordinate the folding to close.
I find that a nice box is made better by simply adding a velvet lining to the bottom ... gives a quality finish.
Regards
Rob

That is an impressive piece of work. Recycled Jarrah floor boards are perfect for boxmaking and you have used these to great effect.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

A very impressive first box Rick, I like the way that you have selectively joined the boards and applied an excellent finish. Personally I like to line my boxes with felt. The splines are a nice addition but I would prefer to see the feet slightly narrower, just my opinion.
An excellent job.

Great work on three counts: design, execution and recycling!!!
