Does anyone know where I can get very fine self adhesive felt dots? No more than 0.5mm thick.

Hi Fumbler,
Not directly an answer to your question, but if you fancy the DIY approach you can take a piece of thin leather, put double sided tape on the underside then use a punch to cut out the discs. A set of 5 or so punches are just a few dollars at the big green shed.
