Default First Box - erh - Camera/box - what tools do I need?

    Hi,

I am a photographer who wants to make his own timber large format cameras, I haven't done much woodwork since I left school - a long long time ago!

What would you suggest as the minimum starter kit of good hand tools?

I need to get just about everything - my current tool box has been raided by the kids and there is not much left.

What brands for hand saws, planes etc? I visited the Sydney Working with Wood show last weekend and have ordered my first chisel.

I will be working with Australian hardwood's in the main.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards

    Brendan

The UKworkshop had a handmade camera and some details of construction posted this week.

    Hi Woody,

Do you know where in the UKworkshop? I tried a search and only came up with references to digital cameras being used to photograph projects etc.

    Regards

Hi Brendan, this was the thread I was thinking of.

BTW did we meet at a manufacturers demonstration in the Ku-ring-gai Nat Pk. around 18 months ago?

    Hi Woody,
Thanks for that, an interesting design - I am planning on more of a field camera - think more wood, less metal.
It wasn't me at Ku-ring-gai, I have only got back into woodwork in the last few weeks.
    Regards

    Thumbs up

A bit off topic but the site you mention below was an excellent find for me.
