Box hardware help
After making some lathe tools and not being able to find anything to house these puppies as thin walled postal tubes need to be bought by the 50, and no one will sell me 3 under the guise of "samples, I have decided to make a box, just a simple pine / plywood construction. After putting together I felt the walls were too thick still even after running through the thicknesser. anyway, measure once, cut twice seems to be the rule of thumb or was t measure twice cut once. anyway after using he first rule (by mistake of course). whilst running the entire box through the table saw, rule 1 has made my walls potentially to thin.
my question be:is there any hardware, hinges that are narrow enough for my purpose, either ruggedly affixed to the outside or rebated nicely. reminder, I'm not after force field inducing magnetic hinges that cot the earth, they are to simply house some hand made lathe tools. I have added the plan pic, the tools to be housed and the box. comments/critique more than welcome, and any advice on where to buy the hardware would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Fumbler,
Try Timbecon or Hardware for Creative Finishes or woodworkshop. A quick look at http://www.woodnworkshop.com.au/ shows several sorts of hinges that may be suitable, and all quite cheap.

Ian, no probs, I was thinking of canvas/webbing for the handle so something along those lines might work. That is til it starts to fray and degum.
Brian, thanks I will look them up.

Could be helpful if you could tell us how thick the walls actually are?

Could try these, they only require a 6mm groove routed to into the sides of the lid and base to fit.
Of course it would depend on how thick the actual sides are on your box.
