Box made from Moonah
The timber is Moonah a red paperbark. I obtained this timber back in 1996. As I was cutting the bauks out of the bulldozed tree it was drying out and cracking. I have just finished this box today, it took about 5 weeks to transform the cracked timber into the box you now see. Size is 425 x 425 square.

Like the blue epoxy, it adds to the box.

When cutting from a wider board and In order to maintain grain pattern I mark pencil lines across the board to maintain continuity and creating a top face which becomes critical in cutting and gluing up. Then set the bench saw blade to an appropriate angle and the guide to an appropriate width and then cut the strips for the first angle cut then move the saw guide in slightly to do the second angle cut. Then glue up and work the the curve. The pictures show a smaller curved top that I been working on.
