    Are you trying to adjust just the scale indicator or the actual cut?

    Second to last page shows the Thumb latch when pushed down pulls back the (presets) Lock Pin from out of the Turrets physical preset notches.

    So I'm confident the first Authorised Makita Repairer was correct.
    You can't adjust the 45° preset (physical notch).
    You could try to widen the physical notch but would probably end up with play.
