I made a box using plywood...
Hi,
In an attempt to hone skills while minimizing outlay I stumbled on some ply and made a box.
I learnt some stuff...plywood is prone to tear-out, it's not as pretty as rooley-truelly wood.
Anyhow, it turned out ok and the ends add some texture.
To your good health,
Nick

I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did; and dovetails no less. Very interesting!
Where did you get the plywood. It looks like a fairly high quality grade - the kind you often see in those American woodworking magazines for jig making etc.

Yep: a very nice solid box, JJ. I've made a box or two from plywood myself, and they still do good service holding bits and pieces in the shed. Good thing about ply is you don't have to allow for wood movement, and it's nice and flat.
You can get high quality plywood at Bunnies: I think it's called 'marine grade', might have to specially order it.Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

I quite like it Nick - turned out nicely. Might have to give it a try myself.

Nice work Nick. Reminds me in the days of ansett the engineering base in melbourne had a workshop where they knocked up thousands of parts boxes out of plywood - not quite as nice as yours but practically indestructible.

Mr Plywood in Hornsby has a bin at the frontdoor for unwanted offcuts.
Mitred splines look dashing 9Fingers, nice work.
If you're interested in the grades and types of ply available the following link is pretty good.

Looks great. I am impressed by the dovetails in plywood. That must have been a bit tough to do. Cool "end grain " effect though.
