Default Cherry Pet Urn / Box

I am fairly new to the box making world. This is recent attempt to build a pet urn for our family cat. He is 20 years old and still hanging on. Might have to time to build a few more boxes to get it right. The box is made of cherry with a tung oil finish. Inside the box, the cover plate is removable to seal in the ashes, sealed with four brass screws. The lid top (inside) is framed and will contain some pictures. A brass chain will be attached to to lid and bottom to hold the lid in open position. A polished brass plate will be engraved when the time comes and will be attached to the cover plate.

A simple design, it turned out pretty nice.

    Gecko,
Very nice box. It is good to be prepared for the loss of loved ones. While your cat is alive and well, here is something you can try just to keep the old guy in shape and have fun with your woodworking, too.

Silky has since passed away, a wonderful old cat, tolerant of being dressed up, and a true gentleman. I hope your old guy lasts a great while longer.

Are you trying to drop hits for poor old puss???

    Here kitty kitty kitty...

... not intended to upset you, and it is great that you're sorting this out now, rather than later, but it just tweaked my odd sense of humour... It is very nice work though - I am impressed.

Yes that is a lovely box, and a noble purpose too! Hope you get a few more years out of the old fella.

A well thought out beautiful box. Very well executed too.
