    Default Dividers

I am in the process of making a watch box for my son, about 210 x 297 mm. Thickness of the sides are 12mm. I want to have 6 compartments with pillows for the watches. I want to make the lining and dividers from Huon pine but don't know what thickness would be appropriate or look "in scale". Any advice much appreciated.
    Regards
    Peter.

    I suggest 3 or 4 mm (1/8 to 5/32"). But definitely no thicker than 5 mm (3/16").

I use 3mm if they are to be covered and 4mm if left as timber.

If they are to be covered, I use MDF as its ready to go, uniform in thickness, and it accepts glues and tapes very well.

Thin always looks good - I'd go 3mm.

I'll go against the grain here i make all my trays and dividers from 6-7mm stock. It stays straighter, its easier to work with when cutting and you have a good edge to glue.

I agree with Alex. Thin does look better. You want the watches to be the heroes not the timber.
