It's about half the new price, looks in excellent condition, and it's in the right place......
I'd take a used JET over a new Carbatec/H&F drum sander any day

Don't hesitate. Once you use it, you'll write back here as if in religious fervour....

If any of you are in brissy see if you can play with a supermax at Greg Mach. I mucked about with the others mentioned wasn't overly happy with a few things. Ended up buying the supermax over them

It's probably blasphemy - but I think my drum thickness sander is my favorite power tool... I use it for all sorts of stuff...
Of course - since my main woodworking interest is guitars - it makes total sense.... You can thin 17"x22" plates down to 0.100" thick by hand - and I have done it... But I love doing it a lot more now with my drum sander...

I would advise against the Carbatec drum sander. I had one and I found that the small motor that drives the belt is too small. As a consequence of this the motor kept overheating and stopping. Things did not get better until I changed to a Jet sander with a larger motor. It also has speed control that auto changes if I ask a bit too much of the sander.
Hurcorh is spot on about the Supermax from Gregory Machinery. I have a Jet 16/32.

The term 'grammar nazi' was invented to make people, who don't know their grammar, feel OK about being uneducated.

Very true. I kind of chuckle when I read guys saying that a drum sander isn't this or isn't that and they've never been within 5 feet of one. Then you hear from guys who own one and it's pretty much> "how did I ever get along without one". I've had my 19-38 for a few years and in that time my DeWalt 735 hasn't been touched.
