    Default Gig boxes

Started some gig boxes for my kids. They are into guitar/ukulele and singing, so I have purchased some music related items and need a box each to put it all in.
I have some Blackwood, Claret Ash, Wattle and Silky Oak that I milled some time ago that will make up the boxes.
    Made a start this weekend.

Above are the tops, 1st two pics are Blackwood and Claret Ash, 3rd pic is Wattle.

Below are some of the sides, Claret Ash and silky Oak.

    Appropriate sizes 200wide x 470long x 150high.
I hope to make trays to sit inside to carry some items also.

I have until New Year's Eve to get them finished as my kids live interstate and that's the next time I get to see them.

Slowly getting through the boxes, 1st one glued up.

It's getting warm in the shed, 28c today I hope the timber doesn't get to badly effected by the heat. Will bring them inside as soon as the clamps are off.

I still haven’t been back in the shed to continue with these, work has been flat out and I have my 5 year old to keep me entertained after work too. Hopefully I will get the 3rd box assembled Saturday morning and I can continue sanding the exterior and get some finish on them.

A 5 year old! Yep, that'll do it.

She is really good, loves banging nails into wood in the shed. Just hard to keep an eye and ear on her and use a table saw (or anything else) in the shed if she wanders off into the house to entertain herself. That would be bad parenting I guess [emoji848]

All 3 boxes are glued and sanded, a coat of shellac on each one and a few more to go!

    Then hinges and hasp.

Finally finished all three boxes. Nothing like doing things at the last minute [emoji1]

I would have liked to make some trays for them but I have run out of time.
Hope they will be happy with them.

Thanks, seems to be a habit I have, finishing just in time. [emoji16]
