Golden Rule Worksheet

I've attached a Golden Rule Worksheet for box calculations.
Here's the story:
Once a month, I sit at a market stall flogging the boxes I make.....some good months .....some bad months.
I made two boxes last month using the Golden Rule.........both went in the first hour.
So this month all the boxes made will be using the Golden Rule, just to test the theory, that it is the most pleasing shape.
I'll post pics of the finished boxes later in the week.
In the past, I've used a calculator to work out the ratio, but took the leap into a simple Excel worksheet.
The ratio I've used is:
Width = 1
Depth = .62
Length = 1.62
There are three calculators in the worksheet, depending on what dimension stock you have, or what size you have to fit.
If you have the depth known enter the depth at B3
If you have the width known enter the width at B7
If you have the length known enter the length at B9
The other dimensions are supplied in the same rows, and need to be rounded up.

Thanks for the info... if the customers choose the boxes made to the golden rule there must be something in it.. looking forward to seeing the new boxes

I have a question about rounding, you say "need to be rounded up".

OK, I enter 2 for the Depth, I get 3.2258 for the Width and 5.2258 for the Length. To how many (or few) decimal places do you round up, or do you round up to the next integer?

Thanks Noel, I am going to measure all my boxes now and see which ones are close to test the theory in terms of appeal.

Thanks Fred,
For inches I would try for two decimal places. so you could guesstimate a 1/4" plus a little, and for metric I'd correct to the nearest millimetre integer, as my eyes aren't that good any more.
When I get better at Excel I'll find the automatic rounder-upperer.

Firstly thanks to Watson for putting this worksheet up.

I've been having a bit of a play with it and... well, here is my version.

I've changed the format a bit, so no matter which value you want to calculate, the columns are the same. And I added a box where you can change the number of decimal places.

All cells are protected except the 4 white cells. You can select a calculated field (so you can paste it into another document for instance), but can't accidently delete the formula.

If you want to have a play with it, the password is my id - switt775. Just be aware that once you have un-protected it, you can accidently wipe out a formula

Hope some of you find this useful. And again thanks to Watson for getting the ball rolling.

I just made a few little changes to your worksheet to roundup to the nearest mm and protected the sheet and the formulas and put some comments in the input cells.

switt, looks good, much better than my feeble effort. Small point, bottom r/h white cell doesn't follow rounding selected on the version I downloaded.
