    Default Three Guesses?

You don't need three to guess who gave up on setting a lock mitre cutter on his homemade router table and cut plain mitres with keys.
Small box made from recycled walnut from an old wardrobe door panel and a couple of chisels for cutting in the hinges.
BTW nothing like 1/4" x #2 brass wood screws to tell you that your screwdrivers needs tuning up on a stone...

I reckon locking mitres look fine on drawer carcases etc but for a decorative box what you've done looks better and shows off your hand skills.

    Well done!

I think Fletty favors the red stuff -- didn't know that you could get red "beer" in the UK

    Sure can!
Now, although I am a great supporter of all things Orcadian, this is not one of their best?

There are certainly plenty in Scotland who would rather belong to Europe and plenty in the Orkneys who would rather belong to Scandinavia. Even their flag is a combination of the Scandinavian flags?

Thanks for the tip David, will see if I can find a UK supplier.

Ah, the Orkneys, sailed around them a few times but never visited, a friend here in the village goes sea fishing up there several times a year.

    Hi Mark,
Those gauges are are made by Infinity Tools and I’m sure they are available in the UK. There are 2 sizes and I bought both but the small would be enough for router table applications. The large is SO large that it must be for spindle moulders?
While I was in the Orkneys (flettrek | just like Startrek … but with Fletts…), I arranged a freshwater fishing expedition for a couple of Swedish mates who thoroughly enjoyed it.
The development of my method, and jigs, for doing lock mitres is covered here but it’s a fairly long winded description....

    Joinery 'systems' get together (JSGT)

...... for what has finally become a quick and easy process.
