Just to show how the box works in relation to the harmonicas, here are a few more pics.

The harmonicas sit higher than the uppermost part of the box itself and fill the cavity of the lid. The plan is to glue a piece of the thin claret ash into both ends of the inside of the lid. This should then locate the lid on the box. Then use magnets to hold the lid on. I prefer to have the lid removable versus have it attached with hinges to save any damage if it gets knocked. Was busy this weekend on the finish.

Thanks all for your advice and kind words. Cheers Cal [emoji3]

Looks great Cal you must be happy with how it has come up, looks like you will have no problem with using thin cleats each end to locate, again well done.

    Nicely done.
What about small hinges on the back, a small catch on the front, shorten the screws that go through the sides and then hide any evidence by flocking the insides.
I should add that I have not tried any of these methods.

Cheers Rod, magnets arrived and fitted. Cleats in place and work well. The magnets hold like a tight fitting inset lid. It isn't a strong hold like a catch would be but that's all I need. The box doesn't get thrown around, I don't "gig" with the harmonicas. They just sits in the lounge or in the car and I play them when I can.

    Thanks for the input Meldge.
