Default Two highly figured (fiddleback) Tasmanian Blackwood trays

I found a nice piece of Blackwood at my local timber yard and made these from it. They are to sit on a 1.4m long and x 0.4 to to 0.6m wide Red Gum slab table I made recently.
The finish is Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil.

    Regards,

Beautiful timber and finish. Is it just me or is it a perspective thing, I can't see trays in any of those pic's, only nice pieces of wood?

    Hi Guys,
There are or were until recently places where I buy timber. Daniher's in Heidelberg was where i bought that piece as the last of the Blackwood they will be buying in.
This leaves Matthews in Vermont and Brittons. You can get good reward from looking through the stacks at Matthews. They're OK with that and their prices are OK.
Brittons are a surprise package. I have bought Tassie Blackwood there, by asking if they had any figured Blackwood, to which they said yes. You can't look at the stacks, or pick your own, but they look after you well. Recently I wanted some highly figured red Gum for the frame of a slab table. They could't help me with the board widths I wanted, to which I said "That's a shame". And he replied, "unless you want figure grade". Mate!! Fantastic figure and only $8.75 per metre.

    Hope that helps,

    Regards,

    Rob
