Default Huon pine /Silky Oak box

Hi all, Merry Christmas. I was able to finish three boxes as gifts for Christmas. The photos of the first box show the details.
The box measures 260W x 160D x 100H, approximating the Golden Ratio 1.62. Box wall thickness is 10mm, using 35 x 6mm brass plated and lacquered strap hinges.
This is the first time I have used lacquer for a finish, thanks to the encouragement of Jim McConnachie and Brian Home. Turned out well, made the NSO grain and figuring really pop.

Very nice Dengy, looks too good to give away.

Been thinking of getting one of the pigskin splits but can't decide which colour. The colours samples shown on the website are small so may not give a good idea of what they are really like. Is the leather in your box the red or the burgundy?

Its red, Bob. Ring NSW Leather, ask for Josef, and they will send you samples

Very nice workmanship. I wish I had even half your talent.

Thanks BMK, but it is not so much talent but a good selection of nice timbers. Mind you, my 40 yr old nephew says he would never have the patience to do it, where every step of the process could ruin the workpiece. It can get stressful

Nice result, Dengue. The NSO looks good with the lacquer, and the timbers go well together.
