Default I've got a new idea!

    A box really too far.!!!!!!!!!!

Using more of my scrap pieces it's going to have the facing look of chipboard, wood will go every way.

    Any suggestions!!!!!!!!

Minds you I have just had two lagers.

Chop all your scraps into little bits then mix with casting resin, pour onto a flat mould then treat them like solid surface material. I've seen a few wood turnings done this way - round twigs set in black resin then turned once set.

    Thanks for that tip Jason.

Actually may look rather good depending on the colour of the filler and the timber. Have a couple of more stubbies and give it some more thought , a most pleasurable way to think about something anyhow

Any Australian friends want to post me a piece of timber to include in the mosaic, preferably over 7mm (aiming for 7mm thickness of blocks) a piece about postage stamp size quite acceptable. (Signed if you like) PM if you wish.

The first two pieces of Australian timber.

    1. given me my Neil of Ubeaut, Feb 2005. (do you remember Neil?)

    2. Buloke given me by Woodborer, January 2005.

I knew they would come in useful one day.

if I was fortunate enought to receive sufficient number of pieces I would be happy to return the box to Australia when completed and perhaps the forum would present it to the best project maker displayed each year.

It would need to be only of australian timbers to come back in to Oz. to keep your customs and immigration happy?

Ummm... Jow? Am I hearing you correctly? You're asking for Aussie pen-blanks to be shipped to you?

(Yes! Another possible future convert to the pen-turning world! Mwoohaha! My plan for world domination is succeeding! )

Delighted to say that I am getting replies in my PM box, so I am holding fire on the construction of box until a plan of action can be made.
I have commenced a box using UK timber supplies but as you know your immigration/agricultural dept. are very strict so I will make a second box with only Australian timbers.

Perhaps who ever is chosen to receive my box would then perpetuate the gift and make an object for a new presentaqtion the following year.
    What do you think?

Thinking about the blocks, I'm wondering if I ought to cut a batch of blocks in a haphazard manner and make them fit the space.
The blocks in the picture above were cut to fit the space.
So today I will try the second method.

Also fitting them in to a frame space means a straight line is created, so might lay blocks out on some ply and then they would be perhaps more eye appealing if the framing was then put down.(after a cut
