Default Jarrah and Red gum Jewelry box

    Hi all,

This is a Jewelry box that i made for a friends spouse to celebrate her (untold) birthday. They live in Austin Texas. He's an Aussie, so can tell everyone what the timbers are and where they're from. The box itself is nicely figured Jarrah, with a figured Red gum panel in the lid. The trays are QLD maple.
An extra touch is the Silver plated quad hinges.

    Apparently, it was well received.P5250011.jpgP5250006.jpgP5250002.jpgP5210011.jpgP5210010.jpgP5210005.jpgDSCN0747.jpg

    Hi Paul,

The photo of the lid frame shows the fit for the four pieces. It hasn't been assembled at this point. I use a 4 or 6mm slot cutter to make the grooves in the frame, then thickness the panel to fit the slots. I usually make the panel about 6mm wider and longer than the actual gap. I don't glue the panel into the frame. It is loose (ish) to allow for movement.

    Regards,

    Rob
