    Default Jewellery Box

Latest project made for my wife. Simple box with no compartments. NZ Beech which was good to work with. 90 degree hinges and two pin catches. Bottom lined with felt. A small inlay across the top and finished with Danish oil.

Nice looking box there Kerry. Did you buy the inlay? I just come back from the Maleny Wood Expo (last week), was huge, loved it. The bloke from Veneer Inlay where a lot of chaps on this site buy their strap hinges from,....he had a stall there, finally got to meet him after buying from him quite often. He had a box full of packs of inlays like the one you used on your box. Selling them at very cheap prices. I bought 3 packs from him on the Saturday, but when I went back on the Monday, all gone.

I'm currently making 3 boxes where I can try it out.

Lovely box. Very sleek - I’m sure your wife is very proud of it.

Thanks Paul. Got my inlay at Creative Finishes stand at the last Melb wood show. It was in a strip of about a metre or so. I got three or four of them all different but got only one and a half left. I've enjoyed using it and learning to get a tight no gaps finish.

    Cheers
