Default A Jewelry Box for My Daughter

    DSCN4565.JPGDSCN4562.jpgDSCN4563.jpg

My daughter helped us with a big painting project this summer and I wanted to show her that we appreciated her help. I made her a jewelry box. The sides are walnut wood with an inlay of hard maple. The top is a glue up of maple and walnut. After sanding down to 400 grit, a finish of four coats of water based polycrylic was sprayed on sanding with 400 grit paper between coats. Blue felt was used to line the tray and bottom of the box. I was happy with the results and so was my daughter.

I hope you enjoy the post and all comment are welcome.

    Thanks for looking,
    Bob

Very nice and an interesting comparison with the one you made your grand daughter.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Alright! Now you're just boasting, you smarty-pants. I just responded to the one for your granddaughter and I can only reiterate the request.

If only mere mortals could approach such a project.

Well done, and you must want your daughter to do some more work around your house

    Cheers

Very neat, I love Walnut and the way it contrasts well with so many different timbers.

Lovely looking box - I'll bet your daughter is wrapped in it (or indifferent if you've been making stuff like that for her since birth!).

Assuming the lid insert is floating, how much movement did you allow for - just been through my first attempt at a solid lid myself
