LF/ Recommendations Miniature Router Bit Sets

Looking For Recommendations For Miniature Router Bit Sets

I am wondering if any of you have purchased any router bits or sets of bits designed exclusively for small work like jewelry boxes and clocks and such. If so what brands have you use and how do you like them. I would be mostly interested in something carbide tipped and of a good quality. Any recommendations?

I have the Proxxon boxed set, which are suitable for a Dremel (1/8" shank). They lack bearings, so tend to leave a bruise on softer timbers when running along an edge, but are perfect for intricate face work.

Richard, depends what you are using as a router and how complicated the work is. I have a similar set as SJM for use in my Dremel when mounted as a router but I find that I get better results from my bench mounted Triton router using spiral straight bits and other quality bits with bearings for most of my small work on boxes.....Kerry

I've bought a few miniature solid carbide spiral bits from Stewart McDonald in the US. 1/8" shank - they also sell the collet reducer so the bits fit a 1/4" router. These worked well for cutting mortises for inlay.
