Myrtle Box
Its been quiet here lately so i thought i'd bring in some traffic.
This is a Myrtle veneer ( veneer came from the WWW show last year) box i made recently using all mitre joins. The trim and insert tray with its clear glass bottom are from Red Cedar. Dimensions are 230L x 130D x 85H and its fully lined with Black leather. The lid is hinged on Brass plated strap hinges and the finish is Organoil HBO.
I have been using traditional wax but have found that it takes a long time to dry and doesn't buff to to the finish i like so i have trialed some newly aquired Pete's Polish which is quicker drying and buffs to the satin finish i'm looking for.

Very nice, the transition from veneer to solid wood has worked well.

Great box, DD.
Very interesting tray design and I would not have thought of glass as a tray bottom. Two thumbs up!

Thanks to Homey for pointing out that the "frame thing" inside was actually a glass bottomed tray! (I think I need new glasses)
Very impressive DD, both design and execution.Cheers, Bob the labrat
