    Default Norfolk Hibiscus

Sliced up some of Damo's Hibiscus and found some striking colourations and designs which screamed book match me for the lid. Not much more to say, the photos do the talking.

    That is stunning!!

Is the colouring due, in some part, to spalting?

What finish are you going to use? I suggest not a high gloss.

My next door neighbour's Hibiscus and a certain chain saw are due for a meeting!
Stunning bit of timber you have there, what a joy to find figuring like that in a piece of garden tree.

I don't think it was down to spalting because the whole piece 220 x 100 x 1600 was the same consistency throughout. Looking at the faces and edges gave no confirmation what lay inside but looking at the end grain confirmed there would be something there to play with.
The photos were taken after Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil was applied. the oil brought out the Blacks and only slightly Yellowed the White.
