Default I need some opinions please

    From left to right:
bookmatched chechen, white limba, bookmatched redwood, white limba
All were moistened with mineral spirits.

With some of the results I've had lately, I realized I jumped into the deep end of the pool before I was ready. I need to simplify things down a bit. So, my next box is going to be pretty simple. Just a dovetailed carcass with an inset panel lid. The sides will be white limba, The top will be wither redwood or chechen. My wife seems to think the chechen goes better with the limba than the redwood. What do y'all think? Don't worry about the figuring on the redwood, just consider the color.

    Your wife is always correct
I think the chechen is a good match for the limba and they should compliment each other nicely.
The redwood is however an excellent contrast. hmmmm.....
When in doubt, do what your wife says.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Sorry, but I like the Redwood better - nice contrast with the Limba.

However, the advice on agreeing with your wife is unarguable.

Good luck anyway, it will look nice with either.

    Cheers

I prefer the redwood too but have to agree with the others - go with your wife's choice particularly if she is to have the box.
I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

The wife is always correct. Even if I do prefer the redwood, your wife is still correct.

Always agree with your wife, or you'll hear about it for the next 2 months and when ever she sees the box. I have learnt that the hard way.

Simple solution...DO BOTH! that way when your wife changes her mind you will still have the right one

Redwood and White Limba for a slightly modern clean look or Chechen for a more antique apperance, however look deeper into the bookmatch on the redwood and a rather strange bat like figure exists.........spooky!!!

hmmm, tough call. All comes down to whether she's SWMBO or not

    cheers,
    Dave

PS. I actually like the redwood - the nicer contrast in the grain...

I knew I could count on y'all for a bunch of input. This won't be for us, but for an undetermined relative at Christmas.

Tallying up the votes (including the wife), we're at 4-4.

I'll break the tie--Its is close but the redwood wins IMHO.

Redwood is my choice too. Make a great contrast.

Hey Wardy, now you mention it, yes I can see a face in the Chechen. You could make a "Munch Box" ! (as in the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, in case I'm being too lateral ).
