    Default Peach Wood Box

Hello it's been awhile since I have posted anything here. I have been reading and enjoying your alls posts and like the different a unique kinds of woods you have in Australia.

I had a peach tree in my yard that died for some unknown reason, and I was curious how it would look and work. It was small and I cut the logs length according to straightest pieces and stored in basement fo about a year. Using a 6 inch jointer and table table saw I cut it into the largest boards I could I laid out and made plans for a wooden box as I went along I made a couple of simple jigs for my table saw so I could cut some key joints for strength and looks. I used some left over cherry pieces for the keys in the joints. I don't think the cherry contrasted that much with the peach, but live and learn. I gave it a couple of good rubs with danish oil.

I enjoyed this project and I have already procured another peach log, my dad had one in his yard that he wanted gone, give it a couple of years drying. It is a little larger than my last one, so..... honey I need a bandsaw!!!!!

    Hi Roybrew,
Nice box you have there I always find it very satisfying to cut the tree and then complete the process all the way through to a finished product well done.

Nice result, especially taking it from tree to box.
Fruitwoods generally have nice wood, good luck with the next one.

Thanks y'all. I got it standing in the corner of my basement. I'll probably move and clean around it every couple of months.
