    Hi,
It is very nice, my questions:
how do you keep the purple colour, I have made bracelets, but the deep purple colour became darker.
Can you tell me what kind of oil Kunos is.

    kind regards from Belgium

Hi serjo, welcome to the Forum, all the way from Begium. I hope you get lots out of it, and get some exposure to our Aussie humour.
i have never had the problem you experience with purple heart. My experience has been the opposite, wher I sanded the timber and it lost its colour, turning grey. But a couple of days exposed to sunlight UV soon fixed that. I suppose that could be a problem for you in winter, eh?
Kunos #244 Penetrating Oil is a German product, so you could probably just whip across the border and pick some up
Have a look at the Livos website, Livos Australia offers natural eco paints, floor and furniture oils & products which are healthy alternatives to acrylic & polyurethane - Livos Australia and in some of their MSDS and Tech Data sheets you will see the German address, from memory.
It is also recommended by our amazing Bungendore Wood Gallery, whose website is worth a visit
    Hope this helps
    regards,

    Dengy

Lovely box. I love the contrast between the purple heart and the Huon pine.

ajw, it is quite a hard and somewhat brittle timber, and I believe it eventually turns grey over a long time. Interesting timber in that when you cut or plane it, it does go grey, but recovers its beautiful deep purple colour when exposed to UV (sunlight) over a few days.

The Kunos oil definitely made it come to life.
Very nice effort on the box. Would you believe that Moxon's were selling Purple Heart as bearers and floor joists in Townsville about 15 years ago.
