    Angry Question

Not quite sure what to call it, but does anybody do this style of lid locating (as in the small panel inside the box carcass) with hinges? Or are they just for when you have a loose lid?

i was thinking of using this method to help locate the lid properly when closed, as it will help keep it in line. I haven't quite got my hinges lined up properly and am thinking out loud as to ways of fixing my wayward drill. Don't ask me how but when I lined up the brad point with my indentation/nail hole, it moved and drill off centre.

IMG_3672.JPG This pic is of a box taken at the wood show on Sunday. So some of you may recognise it.

Those linings are quite acceptable, & do help to line up the lid if slightly off. If it's too far off you need to plug the holes and re-align the hinges.
For a hinged box I wouldn't have the liners so high, and they need to be rounded a bit more. When I do them, I don't glue them in, just cut them accurately to length and they will be a tight fit.

The concealed hing is off by 1mm which I may need to drill out some more then put a slither beside to line up. When put together loosely the lid is off by a very small amount. Probably something that a rebate around the lid and base will hide but I'd prefer not to cheat that way. Probably easier if I post a pic.

forget the hinge depth I will pack that up.
