Question about hinges for Plywood Box
Hello,
Just a small preface, i haven't worked with wooden construction for a few years now, so i may not know the correct technical terms for what i am trying to discuss.
I am undertaking a small DIY hobby case, and would like some advice on the types of hinges to duplicate what i have created through a CAD design.
The CAD drawings are as follows.

The main question that i am trying to find an answer for is how to correctly hinge the middle 272x900 section to the outer two box sections.
The way i want it to work for the second image is that the smaller middle piece will eventually turn out to be the bottom section of the case, with the outer sections rotating around the join to fold up
together to meet, which will form the sides.
The materials that i am planning on using for the construction is 9mm marine plywood (The CAD is a bit out of date since it is measured as 6mm)
I am leaning towards using a piano hinge, but am worried about the screws going through the bottom of the plywood.
I would like the surfaces when in the open state (first image) to fit close together as possible (if its possible).
I can supply any more information if its requred.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if you'll find piano hinge small enough to work with the tiny screws. I've found and used miniature butt hinges from Mitre10 with 10mm timber with good results

The way your box has been drawn you could probably use some 200 x 9mm brass stop hinges the same as I used on the box in the attached pic. The only potential problem I can see with these is that you would need to mount them so that the screws went in to the side of the ply, not the face, so the strength could be compromised. You could also possibly use some butler's hinges mounted on the internal (bottom) faces of the box. Because these can be completely set in to a mortise the bottom of the box remains a flat surface, no protruding barrel.

and perhaps add a strip "foot" on the outside of the box to contain the hing screwsregards from Alberta, Canada
