Default Recommendation for a good book for someone starting out on box making

I'd like to find out a bit more about box making and maybe start with some simple boxes.

I'd like suggestions on a suitable book(s) introducing the subject for someone who only ever made one box in his life -50+ years ago and that turned out a disaster.

    Is this one any good

Complete Illustrated Guide to Box Making. by Doug Stowe

I'd go with Big Shed, here, and view Doug's DVD. I have it. It is informative and entertaining.

I'm just starting out in woodworking - and i just bought The Essential Woodworker (digital version). Its not about box making, but woodworking in general and goes through many (if not all) the joints and general skill for woodworking. Even really simple stuff that i thought i already new from playing around i have picked up some tips and learnt stuff i didn't know.

I think it is really great and only about $15 (AUD) if you get the digital version.

    Cheers

There are a couple of good books on box making by Andrew Crawford. I'm away from home at present & can't remember their names, but they're readily available.

Thanks guys. I'll pick up a copy of the Doug Stowe DVD as well as the book.

Some of the others are in the local library so its about time I hunted out my library card and blew the dust off it.

Look up Steve Hay Woodworking Masterclass on youtube. Season 2 is about making boxes.
