Remote Control box
Hello All from sunny Florida,
Thought I take some pics with new camera of some boxes I've made. Here's on I use for my remote controls. It's fairly starightforward, but has a unique sliding dovetail latch mechanism that if I didn't put the thumb kerfs in you wouldn't kow how to open the box.
Another unique thing I did was to hand make the wooden hinges on the back (inspired by a published box I saw). The lining is a tan suede. The exterior is canary, the top is madrona burl and the interior is lined with maple.

Nice. Very nice. I love that Madrone burl. And those hinges! Extremely nice. One question I have is how does the latch mechanism work? Hard to tell from the photos.

Thanks. There is a pin with a groove cut into it that's attached to the lid. It goes intoa hole that's drilled into the lower part of the box and the sliding mechanisim slides right into this groove in the pin, locking the lid closed..
